Evolysse in Houston

Evolysse is the newest hyaluronic acid filler line I carry, and it is genuinely different from the older HA fillers most patients are used to. Evolus, the company behind Jeuveau, brought it to market in late 2024 after years of work on a cold-temperature manufacturing process they call Cold-X. The idea is to keep the HA molecule closer to its native shape. In practice, that translates to a softer, more pliable filler that integrates well into tissue.

I added Evolysse to the MV menu shortly after FDA approval. If you have been using Restylane or Juvederm and you are wondering whether something newer is worth trying, this page is for you.

What it treats

  • Nasolabial folds (the smile lines from nose to mouth corner)
  • Marionette lines (the lines from mouth corner down to jaw)
  • Cheek and mid-face volume that has softened over time
  • Pre-jowl hollows that flatten the lower face
  • Some peri-oral lines, depending on which Evolysse formula we use

Products used in this treatment: Evolysse Form (more structural lift; cheeks, jawline, chin), Evolysse Smooth (softer rheology; nasolabial folds, lines)

What Cold-X technology actually changes

Most HA fillers on the market are crosslinked using heat. Heat works, but it tends to fragment the HA chains and produce a gel that is more rigid than natural tissue. The Cold-X process Evolus uses keeps the manufacturing temperature near freezing, which preserves longer HA chains and produces a gel that behaves more like the HA your body already makes.

The clinical implication, in my hands so far: smoother integration, less of the slightly firm-to-the-touch quality some patients dislike about older HA fillers, and a more natural drape over the underlying anatomy. Bruising and swelling are comparable to other fillers in the class.

The two formulas, and when I use each

Evolysse comes in two formulations and I pick between them based on what we are treating.

Evolysse Form is the more structural of the two. The gel has more lifting capacity, so I reach for Form when we are restoring volume in the cheek, supporting the jawline, or building chin projection. It holds its shape under the tension of surrounding tissue without looking stiff.

Evolysse Smooth is softer and more pliable. I use it for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and the kind of fine peri-oral work where you want the filler to disappear into the skin rather than sit underneath it. Smooth is the one I use most for patients in their thirties and forties who want a refresh without anyone being able to tell.

What an Evolysse appointment is like

A first Evolysse appointment with me runs about 60 to 75 minutes. We talk for the first 15 of those. I want to understand what you are seeing in the mirror, what you have done before, what you liked and did not like, and what you are actually trying to fix. Most filler regrets I see in consultation are the result of skipping that conversation.

The injection itself takes 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how many areas we are working on and how much product we agreed to. I use a numbing cream beforehand and the Evolysse product itself contains lidocaine, which makes a real difference in comfort. Most patients describe the procedure as pressure rather than pain.

Afterward you can drive yourself home, you can go back to work the same afternoon, and you can be in public the next day. Some swelling and the occasional bruise are normal for the first three to five days.

How long Evolysse lasts

In the pivotal trial Evolus reported, the majority of patients still had visible benefit at 12 months. That is consistent with what I see in practice, though longevity varies with metabolism, the area treated, and how much product was used. Treated cheeks tend to last longer than treated lips. Patients who exercise heavily metabolize all HA fillers a little faster.

Most of my Evolysse patients schedule a maintenance touch-up somewhere between 9 and 14 months. A few go longer.

Who I think Evolysse is good for, and who I usually steer elsewhere

Evolysse is a good first-filler for someone who has been considering it for a while and wants the newest technology without the cost premium of premium surgical-grade brands. It is also a strong second-or-third filler for someone who has used Juvederm or Restylane and felt the result was a touch too firm.

I tend to steer patients elsewhere when:

  • They want under-eye work specifically. The tear trough area has its own filler considerations, and Restylane Eyelight is often a better choice there.
  • They are looking for a biostimulator effect (gradual collagen building over months). That is a Sculptra or Renuva conversation, not a filler conversation.
  • They have had a granuloma or filler hypersensitivity before. We need to talk through that before any new product goes in.
  • They are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Evolysse cost and how I plan a course

Evolysse is priced per syringe. Most patients use one to two syringes per area at a first appointment. I price it transparently at consultation rather than publishing a flat number, because what you need depends on where you are starting and what you want.

What I can say generally: Evolysse pricing in Houston is in line with other premium HA fillers. The longevity makes the per-month math reasonable even when the upfront cost feels like a lot.

Why patients in Houston Heights come to MV for Evolysse

We are at 2401 N. Shepherd in the Heights, at the corner of 24th and Shepherd, just south of I-610. Most of my Evolysse patients live in the Heights, Garden Oaks, Oak Forest, Rice Military, or Cottage Grove and the short drive matters: with a newer product, continuity is worth more than convenience. The clinician who plans your treatment should be the same one who sees you back at the two-week mark and the three-month mark to see how it settled.

Parking is free under the building. Walk in for a consultation before committing to anything. I do every injection personally and the practice is small on purpose.

Common questions about evolysse in houston

How is Evolysse different from Juvederm or Restylane?
The biggest difference is the manufacturing process. Juvederm and Restylane both crosslink HA using heat. Evolysse uses Cold-X, a near-freezing process that preserves longer HA chains. The product feels softer in tissue and tends to integrate more naturally. I have not stopped using Juvederm or Restylane, but Evolysse is what I reach for first now in most cases where a softer feel matters.
Is Evolysse safe?
Evolysse is FDA-approved (Form and Smooth formulations) and the safety profile in the trials Evolus published is consistent with other HA fillers. Side effects are typical HA side effects: bruising, swelling, occasional firmness for a week or two as the product settles. Serious complications are rare with proper injection technique and they are what I am trained to recognize and manage.
How long does Evolysse last?
Most patients see results lasting 9 to 14 months, with the majority still showing benefit at 12 months in the pivotal trial. Longevity depends on the area, your metabolism, and how much was used.
Does Evolysse hurt?
It is well-tolerated. I use topical numbing before the procedure and Evolysse itself contains lidocaine, which makes the injection itself much more comfortable than the first-generation fillers from a decade ago. Most patients describe it as pressure rather than pain.
How soon will I see results?
Immediately. Unlike Sculptra, which builds gradually over months, Evolysse is a true filler. You walk out with the volume. Some swelling will obscure the final shape for the first few days, and I usually like to see patients back at two weeks to assess.
Can Evolysse be dissolved if I do not like it?
Yes. Like other HA fillers, Evolysse can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed. This is reassuring for first-time filler patients and is one of the reasons HA fillers remain the safest filler category.
Should I get Evolysse Form or Smooth?
That is what the consultation is for. As a rough rule, Form is for areas that need structure (cheeks, jawline, chin) and Smooth is for areas that need softness (lines, nasolabial folds, lip support). Many treatment plans use both.
